Central Islip Hosts Future Leaders Academy

Central Islip Hosts Future Leaders Academy

The Central Islip School District hosted the first of four sessions of the Future Leaders Academy through the Suffolk County School Superintendents Association on Wednesday, January 14.

The goal of the program is to increase the quality of candidates interested in school administrative positions. The Future Leaders Academy allows staff members to attend a series of sessions devoted to developing a greater understanding of the work involved in building- and district-level administration.

Dr. Sharon A. Dungee, Superintendent of Schools, welcomed staff members from various districts, including Central Islip, to Alfano Elementary School before introducing the panelists. The panel included several Musketeer administrators: Jessica Iafrate, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction; Mrs. Yenifer Mercado, Cordello Elementary School Assistant Principal; Dr. Nathaniel Marner, Cordello Elementary School Principal; Mrs. Rebecca Garcia, Mulvey Elementary School Assistant Principal; Dr. Nicole Leffterts, Reed Middle School Assistant Principal; and Mrs. Jackie Fagan, Testing and Assessment Administrator.

Each panelist gave a brief synopsis of their career and leadership journey before the microphone was turned back to Dr. Dungee, who welcomed three superintendents to speak: Ms. Patricia Trombetta, Superintendent of Sachem; Dr. Steven Maloney, Superintendent of Bay Shore; and Mr. Paul Manzo, Superintendent of East Islip.
