Six Central Islip Musicians Earn NYSSMA All-State honors

Six Central Islip Musicians Earn NYSSMA All-State honors

The Central Islip School District is proud to celebrate six high school musicians who have earned recognition through the New York State School Music Association All-State Festival. Two students were selected to perform as All-State musicians, while four were named alternates.

Each year, students from across New York state audition for a place in the NYSSMA All-State Festival, making this recognition a significant achievement for Central Islip’s music students. Being selected places these students among the top high school musicians throughout the state.

Nestor Diaz earned the distinction of being selected for All-State in both vocal and instrumental performance, a rare accomplishment. Diaz was selected for mixed chorus as a tenor 1 and symphonic band on trombone, part 1.

Oscar Bonilla was also selected as an All-State musician for wind ensemble on trumpet, part 3.

Four additional Central Islip students were named All-State alternates: Evan Sansone, tenor 2; Justin Guzman, euphonium; Luisfemando Bautista, tuba; and Sophia Maghfour, soprano 2.

The district congratulates all six students on this well-deserved recognition and thanks the Central Islip music staff for helping students grow as musicians and providing opportunities for them to take their skills to the next level.
